Internship USA

Internship

Are you a student and need to complete work experience as part of your degree or want to get ahead with a summer internship in America? Live and work in the USA for up to 14 months with our Internship USA program.

You’ve seen the movies and Bravo reality shows. There’s always an intern. The USA has an established and well-paid internship culture, with most American students doing several internships before getting a full-time position. You’ll get world-class training in your field, build a global network, and show future employers you have the motivation to work abroad. Plus, your J1 visa allows you to travel for 30 days before and after your placement. Which in our world, spells one thing: road trip! (Should have worked in America when we had the chance, might have got better at this whole spelling thing…).

Already graduated? Make sure you check your grad cert dates and enquire now or risk losing out on our Internship USA program. You only have 12 months from the date on your grad cert to enter the US, and processing times can be around 12 weeks - so reach out to a member of our team today.

So, why should you get your Intern USA visa through USIT?

  • Expert coaching: Our team will review your CV and deep dive into your degree and modules, advising on what internships you can do and companies you should target.
  • USA sponsorship: We’ve been bringing our USA game for 60+ years. Together our US Sponsor partner, we provide the sponsorship to intern anywhere in the States for up to a year.

Who can apply

You must have an Irish passport, be 18+ and be able to fulfil one of the below student requirements:

  • If you're a full-time enrolled student your course must be at a recognised Irish college or university (or EU or UK institution) and be at least a two-year course that ultimately leads to a degree or higher qualification. Unfortunately, online, lifelong, special purpose or distance learning courses are not permitted on this visa. If you’re not a student but have five years’ experience in the field your internship relates to, check out our Trainee USA program instead.
  • If you’ve already graduated, you must enter the USA within 12 months of the date on your graduation certificate. Recent graduates will also qualify for our 1-year Grad USA program.

When to apply

You can apply at any time of the year. However, it can take around 12 weeks to process your application, so if you’re looking to do an internship over the summer or have already graduated, make sure you build this and the time it takes to interview for positions into your timescales.
