Education, qualifications & special training:

Degree (Hons), MSc or PhD in Industrial, Manufacturing, Production Engineering or equivalent or a related field.

Knowledge & Special Skills:

  • Technical Skills: Experience with simulation software (e.g., FlexSim, Arena, Simio, AutoMod) and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks). Knowledge of computer programming is essential with knowledge of one of the following C, C++, C Sharpe or Visual Basic.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated experience in managing engineering related projects, including planning, execution, and reporting.

Overall basic purpose of the job:

The graduate Industrial Engineer with responsibility for Plant and Line design simulation will play a critical role in designing, optimising, and simulating manufacturing processes and production lines, with the aim of progressing the journey toward a digital twin environment. This position requires a combination of technical expertise in industrial, production and/or manufacturing engineering, proficiency in simulation software, and a keen eye for detail to ensure efficient and cost-effective plant layouts and production workflows.

Main Responsibilities and Duties of the job but not limited to:

  • Simulation and Modelling: Develop and implement simulation models for plant layouts and production lines using advanced FlexSim simulation software.
  • Process Design: Design and optimise manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall operational efficiency.
  • Data Analysis: Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Layout Planning: Create detailed plant and production line layouts that maximize space utilization, streamline workflows, and ensure safety and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, maintenance, and supply chain to ensure seamless integration of new designs and improvements.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage projects related to plant and line design from concept to implementation, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously seek out and implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Documentation: Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings, recommendations, and project statuses to stakeholders.
  • Factory layouts : Develop, optimise, implement and maintain factory layouts, including ergonomic workplace design and overall material handling improvements
  • Time studies and work plan Capture and optimise production process cycle times via the use value stream mapping and time studies techniques, while recording and maintaining important data on our SAP work plan database.
  • Manufacturing costing : Where required, support new product introduction via preparation of industrial engineering related information to facilitate the completion of manufacturing costing (impact analysis of proposed processes)
  • Any other duties as assigned by your Supervisor / Manager
