We are currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Graduate to join the Health & Safety team.

Job Purpose

As a Health and Safety Graduate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, contractors, industry personnel and customers within the racing industry, working across multiple sites. You’ll work closely with the Health and Safety Business Partner and Health & Safety Officer to implement best practices, comply with legislation, and foster a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, review and update risk assessments, safety statements and all relevant health & safety documentation ensuring all procedures and documentation are aligned with legislation and company standards
  • Maintain a log of accident/incident recording illustrating measures and corrective actions taken
  • Coordinate and submit health and safety leading indicator and information reports
  • Conduct site safety assessments and inductions
  • Identify training requirements and ensure training programmes are relevant and timely delivery of training as required.
  • Assist with procurement of PPE Supplies, signage, merchandise and all other H&S requirements.
  • Manage internal communications on intranet and update accordingly.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the organization by engaging with employees and contractors and fostering a proactive safety mindset.
  • Assist with measuring compliance across sites on the robustness of safety management plans and health and safety procedures
  • Assist with maintaining internal Risk registers & compliance requirements.
  • Other duties as required such as invoicing and complying with procurement procedures.
  • Provide safety administration support. training records, risk assessments, safety statements, minutes, procurement details, etc.
  • Provide support and learn from the Health and Safety Business Partner and Health & Safety Officer.
  • Actively contribute and promote H&S Awareness campaigns and programmes and competitions.
  • Keep abreast of any relevant legislative changes and advise on changes to practices.

Key Requirements

  • Recently qualified from a relevant third level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or another relevant field.
  • A team player with a positive attitude.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • A self-motivated and results-orientated individual with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good IT skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
  • Adaptable with the ability to change pace/work direction when required and work within an ever-changing organisation.
  • Strong on systems with excellent documentation/writing ability, time management skills and an ability to plan and prioritise workload.
  • Clean driving license will be required as travel is an essential part of the role.
  • Ability to work across multiple sites and in a flexible manner to meet the needs of the business.

As racing is a seven-day business, flexibility in relation to working hours is required. You will be required to work some weekends and evenings. Successful candidates may spend time working at one or more of our Racecourses, i.e. Fairyhouse, Navan, Leopardstown or Tipperary as well as working in Horse Racing Ireland (Newbridge, Co. Kildare) and other industry bodies.
