Summary

From our Head Office to the shop floor and everywhere in between our primary goal is to create and deliver a fantastic customer journey for everyone who shops at Lidl. With over 7,000 colleagues across our stores, warehouses and offices in Ireland and Northern Ireland we are a big and ambitious team.

We know our people are our greatest asset and our success is down to the commitment and dedication of our team. Our Environmental Health & Safety Department is the backbone of our operational integrity. We are responsible for architecting the safety systems across our head office, retail stores, and distribution centres, ensuring the business remains fully compliant with National and European Food, Fire, and Health & Safety legislation. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented EHS Intern to support our EHS Managers in the development, testing, and nationwide rollout of critical safety initiatives and projects. This is a dynamic role that bridges the gap between high-level policy development and on-the-ground implementation.

What you'll do

  • In this role, you will act as a vital link between Head Office departments and our Regional teams to ensure seamless compliance. Your core duties will include:
  • Project Lifecycle Support: Assisting EHS Managers during the preparation, pilot testing, and full-scale rollout of nationwide safety projects.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Preparing, reviewing, and maintaining technical documentation to ensure all business requirements meet stringent legislative standards.
  • Research & Development: Conducting in-depth research to establish robust procedures and keep the business ahead of evolving food safety and H&S regulations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Attending and contributing to strategic meetings at Head Office and various Regional offices throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Tracking project milestones and providing clear, consistent communication regarding progress and potential risks to the wider business.

What you'll need

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a rigorous approach to compliance and a steadfast commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards across our operations. To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • Educational Credentials: You hold a relevant qualification, or are currently pursuing a professional certification, in Occupational Health and Safety, Food Safety, or a closely related discipline.
  • Operational Mobility: A full, valid driving license is mandatory. You must demonstrate the flexibility to travel regularly to various locations throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland to support regional implementation and audits.
  • Professional Motivation: A self-starter with the drive to take ownership of project milestones and see them through to successful completion.
  • Interpersonal Excellence: Strong personal and relationship-management skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Articulate Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, essential for drafting technical documentation and presenting project updates to senior leadership.
