About The Job
The CSIR has a vacancy for an Internship in the Mandela Mining Precinct. The Mandela Mining Precinct aims to appoint an intern in the Geosciences area for the next 18 months. The position is based in Johannesburg. This position reports to the Programme Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Literature review of previous research done locally and internationally within the field of geosciences and its applications aligned to the programme.
- Assist and support with underground trials at various mine sites.
- Engage with researchers and stakeholders involved within the programme projects.
- Conduct research work/tasks related to technologies, as assigned by project leads/programme manager.
- Report on processes and results.
- Attend and present on results where required.
- Perform general administrative tasks as required by project leaders.
Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- A minimum of a BSc Honors degree in Geology/Geophysics;
- Mineral Resource Management qualification will be an advantage;
- Experience within the mining environment will be an added advantage;
- Proficient in Microsoft suite of programmes;
- Good numerical skills;
- Good attention to detail.
- A valid Drivers License will be an advantage.
- Must have clear/no criminal record;
- All international qualifications require an evaluation report/certificate issued by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA).
