contractor-side college placement that gives you hands-on experience on live
construction projects. 

This placement
offers practical site and commercial
experience on live construction projects,
with support from experienced Quantity
Surveyors and project teams. Students
will build their understanding of project costs, procurement, reporting and
commercial management while applying their college learning in a real project
environment.

Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor

What you will do

During your placement, you will
be supported to learn and assist with the following:

• Assist with
  project cost records, change order logs, variations, claims and commercial
  reports.
• Support
  subcontractor procurement, package management and interim payment reviews.
• Help track
  commercial risks, opportunities and project changes.
• Build
  professional relationships with colleagues, subcontractors, suppliers, clients
  and project teams.
• Take direction,
  ask questions and contribute positively to project delivery. 

What you will learn

• Cost reporting,
  forecasting and project cost control.
• Subcontractor
  procurement, payment processes and commercial records.
• Variations,
  claims, change management and contract administration.
• How teamwork,
  accuracy and communication support successful project delivery. 

The candidate

We are looking for motivated
Quantity Surveying placement students who are eager to learn and contribute to
a team.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Currently
  studying Quantity Surveying as part of a college placement or internship
  programme.
• Clear
  communicator with good attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
• Positive,
  reliable and comfortable asking questions when guidance is needed.
• Interested in
  commercial management, construction project delivery and cost control.
• Confident using
  Microsoft Office; knowledge of Buildsoft or similar systems would be helpful
  but is not essential. 

This placement would suit
Quantity Surveying students who want practical industry experience and a strong
foundation for a future career. Successful placement students may also have the
opportunity to return to Flynn as part of our Graduate Programme.
