How We Work
This is an onsite internship in our Dublin 15 (Ballycoolin Business Park) office. It’s a full-time, fixed-term internship (10 weeks, starting 1st July). You’ll work in person with experienced Android and iOS engineers, product, design, and QA colleagues, with plenty of day-to-day collaboration, mentoring, and exposure to real product work.
About the Role
As a Software Engineering Intern – Mobile (Android & iOS) at Gen (Avast + Norton), you’ll help build and improve consumer mobile apps used by millions of people worldwide. You’ll support our Norton consumer apps focused on protecting users from online threats, managing digital privacy, and delivering AI-powered security insights.
This is a hands-on engineering internship, not a shadowing role. You’ll contribute real features – such as threat alerts, account protection flows, and AI-driven security experiences – participate in design and code discussions, and see how AI is transforming modern mobile development in a global consumer SaaS cybersecurity company.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to Android or iOS features within large-scale consumer applications.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code under mentorship from experienced mobile engineers.
- Use AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or similar to accelerate delivery and improve quality.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Learn and apply modern mobile architecture patterns and best practices.
- Collaborate with product, design, QA, and other engineers in a globally distributed team.
About You
Education
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- Foundational knowledge of Android with Kotlin or iOS with Swift.
- Understanding of basic software engineering principles, version control, clean code, and testing fundamentals.
Skills
- Curiosity about AI-assisted development and willingness to adopt AI as part of your daily workflow.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to ask questions.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Nice to have:
- Personal, academic, or open-source mobile projects.
- Exposure to SwiftUI, UIKit, Kotlin, or modern Android frameworks.
- Experience using AI coding assistants.
Personal Attributes
- Proactive and eager to learn.
- Organised and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable working onsite and supporting others in person.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-tech environment and manage multiple tasks.
What’s Next
Your CV will be reviewed together by the recruiter and hiring manager to assess your skills, interests, and how your experience aligns with the internship. If shortlisted, you will be called to interview after completing an AI home assignment.
Important Application Note – When you apply, please include your current city and country and let us know your work status (e.g. visa status, right to work in Ireland, etc.).
Gen is an equal opportunity employer, and we’re committed to fair, inclusive practices at every stage of the candidate and employee journey. Employment decisions are based on merit, experience, and business needs.
