Programme Overview:

Our Intern & Placement programme is designed to give you a hands-on insight into the work we do as a company and help to develop skills and knowledge within your chosen field.  Supported by signposted training, the programme is based on Arcadis’ core values, giving you both technical training and support to help you develop both personally and professionally whilst with us. You will be exposed to real projects and clients and given a range of experiences to immerse yourself into over the course of your 10–12-week internship or 12 month placement. 

Specialism:

Our Instrument and Controls Engineers work within the life sciences, semiconductor, and other high-tech industries across Ireland and Europe. We thrive on partnering with our clients to deliver best-in-class approaches and innovative solutions powered by strong relationships, so vital drugs, therapies, and products get to market with speed, cost-effectiveness, and safety.  

As a Summer Intern Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer, you will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of systems that monitor and control manufacturing processes in pharmaceutical and life sciences facilities. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will help ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations, contributing to the delivery of high-quality healthcare products. You will work primarily within the Engineer & Design sector, taking projects from Front End Design through to Detail Design and handover to clients, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance (like GMP, FDA), process optimization, product quality, and efficiency. You will gain a variation of work, experience, and challenges within the industry and partner with senior engineers.  

  • Accepted degrees: Instrument Engineering, Applied Physics & Instrumentation, Mechatronics  

Qualifications & Experience:

  • You will be working towards a degree in a relevant subject
  • You will demonstrate typical Arcadian skills including Resilience, Creativity, Analytical Thinking and being a Team Player
  • You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to use your technical knowledge to influence and consult stakeholders.
  • Willing to travel and stay away from home when required (where possible we embrace virtual working)
