We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Academic & Activities Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support the academic team in fostering a dynamic and engaging classroom environment that helps students develop their language skills. Additionally, you will be leading exciting and interactive afternoon activities set out by the company, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable experience for all participants while ensuring the safety of students. We need someone who is confident working with a group of up to 25 persons and can maintain a functioning and fully thriving environment with such.

Location: Athlone Center, Deerpark road

Contract : Flexible hours - ad-hoc contract

Learners’ Age & Levels: Ages 12–17, levels A2–B2 (Pre-Intermediate to Upper-Intermediate).

Schedule: Monday to Friday - morning or afternoon 9:00-13:00 // 14:00-17:00

Salary: 14.58 euros per hour (including holiday pay)

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist the Director of studies in ensuring the orderly running of the classes in adhering to timetable and classroom discipline guidelines.
  • To assist in ensuring that the educational space assigned is set up in an appropriate way for the group and that all of the equipment they need is in place and functioning normally and after their session to return everything to the appropriate place as indicated by the DOS.
  • Assist the academic team by setting up the classrooms before the start of lessons : check and organize classroom material/equipment (laptops/whiteboards and markers etc).
  • To help to ensure the orderly running of the activities keeping to the timetable and ensuring students adhere to conduct guidelines and protocols.
  • To supervise activity set-up and checking that facilities and equipment are in place.
  • To run one of the activity sessions and help coordinate the staff running the other ones.
  • To assist in the managing of mealtimes and ensure students are on schedule
  • To assist in looking after student health, safety and welfare during activities and alert the activities manager or residential manager as appropriate of any issues that arise.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 3 months experience working with young learners, experience leading outdoor & indoor activities
  • Skills: Tech savvy, dynamic and proactive, problem solving
  • Location: Must reliably commute to or plan to be based near location before the start date
  • Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in Ireland (EU citizenship or valid work/residency permit)
