CORPORATE TAX TRAINEE – BALBRIGGAN
We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious individual with great analytical and problem-solving skills to join our award-winning Tax team.

You will need to have achieved or be on track to pass an undergraduate degree or above in any subject to be eligible to apply. Alongside building a solid foundation in business, you'll also study and complete your training contract for a professional tax/accountancy qualification (AITI/ACA or equivalent). You will receive study support and on-the-job coaching.

ROLE DEFINITION

As a Tax Trainee at AAB Group, you have a key role in supporting assistant managers and managers in the delivery of awesome client service!  You will be helping to add value to our work and successfully completing tax assignments.  You will be attending client meetings, gathering information and data and helping client meet their tax compliance obligations. You will also be involved in tax planning assignments at early part of your career, agreeing the best way to present outcomes and findings.  A good understanding of business disciplines is required along with the ability to apply technology to your work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES    

  • Delivering the firm’s compliance services to include the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns for both small to medium enterprises and large corporate groups.
  • Preparation and filing of income tax returns for company directors, professionals and other high net worth individuals
  • Coordination of VAT returns on behalf of Irish and International clients to ensure tax compliance and dealing with ad hoc queries in relation to same
  • Maintaining RCT compliance in respect of Irish and international clients involved in the construction sector to include submission of contract and payment notifications to Revenue and advising clients in respect of RCT queries
  • Liaising with Revenue in connection with client matters and cooperating with clients to ensure that any problems are resolved.
  • Issuing of fees to clients, debtor and work in progress management.

MAIN TASKS

  • Corporate and Personal Tax Compliance
  • Support to Assistant Managers, Managers, Senior Managers, Directors and Partners in the delivery and execution of tax planning projects
  • Attend client meetings when appropriate to develop and strengthen client relations and gain exposure to client interactions
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the services offered by your department and the wider firm, and identify areas where the firm could assist clients
  • Delegate work to junior colleagues as and when required, taking responsibility for their utilisation, and assisting by providing effective on the job training
  • Contribute to our marketing campaigns, including social media
  • Control tax administrative tasks to assist with overall management of the compliance process.
  • Identify client service and process improvements and, in conjunction with the wider team, actively promote ideas and suggestions, and participate in all business improvements as part of the firm’s commitment to continuous improvement

 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience is not essential

  • Great social skills and confidence with clients
  • A knack for overcoming challenges to maintain strong business relations
  • Attention to detail, be nifty with numbers, and have a knack for following processes within legislative guidelines
  • A desire to stretch yourself and an insatiable hunger to succeed
  • Integrity and authenticity

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Leaving Certificate or equivalent
  • Have achieved or be on track to pass an undergraduate degree or above in any subject (2:1 or above classification preferred)
  • Tax Trainees are required to complete a professional tax/accountancy qualification (AITI/ACA or equivalent)
