Summer Placement Agreement
General Hardware Supplies, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick

1. Position

The chosen candidate will take up a role in our Marketing Department reporting to the Marketing manager. This is a temporary, paid work placement designed to provide experience in various areas of marketing, both digital and traditional.

2. Working Hours

  • The placement will begin on or around June 5-14.
  • Initial working hours will be 2 days per week, from 9:00am to 5:00pm (this can be changed if necessary), including a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
  • The number of working days may increase to 3 or more days per week during the summer period, subject to mutual agreement and satisfactory performance.

3. Duration & Notice Period

  • The placement is expected to run from June to September.
  • Either party may end this placement at any time by giving one week’s notice in writing.

4. Pay

  • The Employee will be paid €15.00 per hour, payable weekly via bank transfer.
  • This rate will be reviewed during the placement and may be increased depending on performance, reliability, and business requirements.

5. Duties

The Employee may be asked to carry out a wide range of marketing-related duties, including but not limited to:

  • Website content updates and product promotions
  • Social media engagement and campaign planning
  • Assisting with WhatsApp promotions and customer lists
  • Designing marketing material (e.g., brochures, flyers, business cards)
  • Supporting in-store promotions and signage with sales staff
  • Managing branded merchandise (e.g., pens, bags) and sourcing competitive pricing
  • Supporting the Supplier Assistance Programme and ad hoc marketing tasks

Training and support will be provided as needed.

6. Workplace Policies

The Employee agrees to adhere to all workplace rules and policies, including health and safety, confidentiality, appropriate use of equipment, and respectful conduct with colleagues and customers.

7. Confidentiality

During and after the placement, the Employee must not disclose any confidential or sensitive business information to any third party.

8. Holiday Entitlement

As this is a short-term placement, holiday entitlements will be calculated in accordance with Irish legislation and should be requested in advance where possible. 

9. Progression

Depending on performance and business needs, there may be an opportunity for this role to progress into a permanent or full-time position at the end of the placement.
