Established in 1992, Applegreen is a leading convenience roadside retailer in the Republic of Ireland, the UK and the US in both large-scale Motorway Service Areas and Travel Plazas, as well as smaller petrol stations. The business has grown to over €4.1BN in annual revenue, operating over 600+ Motorway Service Plazas and forecourt sites internationally and employing over 16,000 people. Our products and services include large scale food and beverage operations, convenience stores, roadside refuelling including electric vehicle channels, in addition to a number of other ancillary business lines for example our hotels and gaming business in Welcome Break and our commercial fuel and airline refuelling business.

We partner with a large number of high-quality international brands in each market including Starbucks, Chick-Fil-A, Burger King, Subway, Greggs, KFC, 7-Eleven, Shake Shack, Dunkin Donuts, M&S, Chopstix, etc in addition to our own proprietary Bakewell brand. In 2021 Applegreen moved from a PLC to a private ownership company structure in partnership with Blackstone Infrastructure Partners acquiring the public equity interest in the business.

Description

Finance Summer Intern (Treasury) - Applegreen Head Office

Location: Applegreen Head Office, 17 Joyce Way, Park West Business Park, Dublin 12

Duration: Full time from June 2025 - End of August 2025

Key responsibilities:

Main activities will include, but are not limited to :

  • The overall management of the Group’s balance sheet, cash and liquidity positions;
  • The employment of appropriate Group funding strategy and structures;
  • Management of the group’s cash balances;
  • Forecasting of cash and financing requirements over short, medium and long term horizons; and
  • Helping to ensure that future sources of financing are available as required for the group’s ongoing capital expenditure programme (via structured finance, debt capital markets, bank finance, etc.).

Required skills and aptitudes:

  • Applegreen is in a rapid growth phase, and we are looking for high calibre interns
  • Be a confident, people person who can fit into the function seamlessly and adopt a hands-on approach to their work.
  • ‘Can do’ attitude, positive and solution orientated individual.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work cross functionally and to tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, web analytics and social media platforms.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a professional environment.
  • Highly motivated, dynamic and creative.
