Graduate Electrical Engineer

Metec Consulting Engineering is seeking a Graduate Electrical Engineer to start in the summer 2025. 

The most suitable courses are Building Engineering, Electrical Services, Energy Management,  and Electrical & Electronic (TU705, TU706, TU726, TU027, TU703, TU802, TU025, TU820, TU821, TU825, TU801). 

Graduate Programs will be based in the METEC office in Bray, Co.Wicklow. You will work both in the office, as a Design Engineer and undertake site surveys with Senior Project Engineers. 

You would be undertaking Electrical Design of building services. The focus will be on the circle economy of the system install, operational running costs of the systems, Carbon Footprint of the installation and Capital costs of the installation. Introducing Smart building systems, including, Intelligent lighting controls, Building Energy Management Systems, Photovoltaics and Electrical Car Chargers etc.

The Graduate Program start is also negotiable and is a 2-year program. 

Your Responsibilities

  • Working as a Project Engineer and assisting with electrical designs including, Electrical System designs, Load calculations and distribution of electrical loads, Cable Sizing & Distribution Board Scheduling.
  • Design interior and exterior lighting using Relux/Dialux software, focusing on daylight dimming and presence/absence controls and implementing circadian rhythm.
  • Fibre and Data installation design.
  • Designing Security Intruder Alarm, CCTV Access control and Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Preparation of design and contract documentation and specifications.
  • Coordinating with all members of design teams including Mechanical and Sustainable Engineers to complete MEP Tenders.
  • Reviewing and implementing Standards and Regulations.
  • Estimating and Cost Control on projects
  • Creating and compiling project reports
  • Working on CAD, REVIT MEP, Amtech, Dialux, Relux, Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, Powerpoint etc.
