Alumina, situated in Askeaton on a 1,300-acre site on the Shannon Estuary, is
one of the leading industrial plants in Ireland.  It is the largest Alumina Refinery in Europe,
producing 1.96 million tons per annum of product that is the primary raw
material for the production of aluminium. 
The company also has a 150 MW Combined Heat & Power Plant. Aughinish
Alumina has a history of continuous improvement and innovation and is now
considered to be a world leader in the Alumina industry.


Working as part
of a multidiscipline engineering department, this position will provide the graduate
with the opportunity to work on a wide range of heavy industrial plant and
equipment through our capital and maintenance project programmes.

a bright, ambitious graduate with a genuine interest in team-based problem
solving to develop a career with us. The successful candidate will join the
electrical project engineering team working together with stake-holders and
will play a key role from day one in helping us deliver our maintenance
projects and to achieve our ambitious capital investment programme.  Our plant processes are designed with our core
values in mind and we aim to train you to become one of our engineers of the
future.


The
candidate will:

  • Work in a team environment with experienced
    Engineers and will be tasked with setting individual targets and using
    your own initiative to overcome challenges.
  • Collaborate
    with project teams including electrical/instrument engineers, DCS
    engineers, operations personnel and others to implement designs.
  • Conduct
    surveys and reports on site equipment and installations.
  • Generate
    electrical design drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and project
    documentation to deliver the electrical and/or instrumentation
    requirements of the project.
  • Specify
    and procure electrical and instrument equipment according to standards.
  • Prepares
    project documents, health and safety plans, specifications, bills of
    materials and material purchases as required to implement the projects.
  • Liaise
    with the project teams and contractors during installation,
    pre-commissioning including commissioning and testing of electrical and
    instrument installations.
  • Work
    with the plant personnel to optimise electrical and instrument performance.
  • Report
    regularly on project status, schedules and budgets

 

What
we look for:

·        
Level 7/8 qualification in Electrical Technology or Electrical
Engineering

  • Natural
    problem-solving skills with strong electrical aptitude
  • Have excellent
    communication / interpersonal skills
  • Have an interest in heavy industry manufacturing
  • Be enthusiastic
    and energetic with the ability to integrate quickly into a collaborative
    team environment
