Internal Design Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented Internal Design Engineer to join our growing team.

This role will focus on:

• Sizing and specification of heat pump systems
• Designing underfloor heating systems
• Producing accurate technical documentation and design packs
• Supporting the sales and installation teams with technical expertise

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring all systems are designed for optimal performance, efficiency, and compliance with Irish building regulations.

Key Responsibilities Heat Pump System Design

• Perform heat loss calculations (room-by-room and whole dwelling)
• Size and specify air-to-water heat pump systems
• Select appropriate emitters and buffer/storage solutions
• Ensure designs comply with Irish Building Regulations (Part L) and SEAI guidelines
• Review BER-related design considerations

Underfloor Heating Design

• Produce detailed underfloor heating layout drawings
• Design pipe spacing and zoning configurations
• Calculate flow rates and manifold sizing
• Ensure system integration with heat pump designs

Technical Documentation

• Prepare design packs for installers and clients
• Create schematics, pipework layouts, and control strategies
• Provide technical support to sales and operations teams
• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers as required

Project & Internal Support

• Review tender documents and architectural drawings
• Attend internal design review meetings
• Support troubleshooting and technical queries
• Maintain accurate project records

Candidate Requirements

• Degree, diploma, or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline
