FT is recruiting the following roles open to 3rd & 4th year Work Placement or Internship opportunities:


Ecology/Zoology

Ecology/Environmental Biology
 

This is a paid work placement opportunity. The successful candidate will be joining a growing team within an established company and will have the opportunity to acquire a broad range of skills and experiences with support from mentors across several disciplines.

Requirements:

•    Currently studying a suitable BSc or MSc Degree
•    Excellent communication (both verbal and written), analytical and organisational skills.
•    Excellent attention to detail. 
•    Efficient work methods, functioning both as part of team and on own initiative.
•    Ability to adopt and work to new procedures and systems quickly.
•    Prepared to travel to site visits and client meetings.
•    Ability and willingness to understand and follow instructions. 
•    Familiar with report writing and preparation skills.

Discipline Specific Requirements - Ecology: Familiar with ecology survey methodologies and developing baseline data.

General Duties:

  • Take instruction from others and continue to learn from others. (Requires regular supervision.)
  • Complete all assigned tasks with detailed direction and guidance within deadlines.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with all team members.
  • Attend onsite meetings with the client and other professionals as required, always maintaining the reputation of FT.
  • Display efficient work methods, using own initiative and working as part of the team.
  • Ensure compliance with FT Company policies and procedures and relevant Health and Safety legislation.
  • Ensure assigned project tasks are delivered to the timescales, quality and costs agreed with the client and as outlined by the Project Owner.
  • Contribute to the preparation and writing of technical reports and other documentation as required.
  • Assist with the upkeep of environmental monitoring and/or surveying equipment, completing chain of custody forms as required.
  • Continually seek to develop professionally and to continue to learn and grow knowledge base and expertise.
  • Display willingness to integrate with team and organisation as well as to understand and follow instructions.
  • Obtain information required to do the job by asking questions of other team members, Project Owners or Line Manager.
  • Have all work checked and approved and participate in project review/progress meetings.
  • Communicate any issues impacting work completion to Line Manager. Take initiative to identify obstacles to progress.

Discipline Specific Duties - Ecology:

  • Contribute to background research, desk studies and ecological fieldwork and impact assessment reporting, to best-practice guidelines and methodologies.
  • Assist with analysis of environmental monitoring data and contribute to reports.
