The Role
We are looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic fluent Japanese-speaking journalist intern to join our in-house production team. The ideal candidate should have the ability to find interesting stories and create high-quality, engaging short-form video content for a global audience. The candidate should have excellent writing skills and the ability to translate from English to Japanese.
You will work with our production team to create short-form news videos about a variety of topics including entertainment, sport, lifestyle and sci/tech. This is a hybrid working role with two days working from home and three days in our offices in Dublin city centre.
Responsibilities:
- You will source, edit and publish videos about breaking news stories and trending topics.
- Source, write and publish slideshows about trending topics across a variety of categories.
- Ensure video content is in line with our house style.
- Collaborate with other members of staff to identify content opportunities.
- Translate existing stories from English to Spanish and analyze monthly video performance.
Requirements:
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, (fluency in Japanese is required).
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in media or journalism, or experience in journalism.
- Excellent communicator with ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of video production software.
- A keen interest in topical news stories and trends across a variety of categories.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
- A creative person who can think outside the box.· A background in journalism and strong writing skills
The internship will last for up to four months with the potential for a full-time position. Remuneration is €2,000 per month.
Schedule of hours: 9am - 5.30pm with an hour for lunch from 1pm-2pm, however, hours can be flexible/reduced if visa restrictions limit the number of hours available to work.
