Placement Engineer
Design ID is offering an exciting Engineering Placement Student opportunity within our growing Dublin team. This placement can be tailored for up to 12 months and will provide hands-on experience across a wide variety of real engineering projects, helping you bridge the gap between academic study and professional practice.
This is an opportunity to gain valuable industry experience while working alongside experienced engineers on projects that shape communities, infrastructure and the built environment throughout Ireland and the UK.

The Placement Opportunity
As a Placement Student Engineer, you'll become part of our project teams and contribute to live projects from day one.
You'll gain experience in:
- Engineering design and calculations
- Technical report writing
- Site visits and inspections
- CAD, BIM and engineering software
- Feasibility studies and design development
- Data collection and technical analysis
- Project coordination and delivery
- Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Client and stakeholder engagement
You won't spend your placement making coffee or filing paperwork. You'll be involved in real engineering work and supported by experienced professionals throughout your placement.
Who We're Looking For
We'd love to hear from students currently studying:
- Civil Engineering
- Structural Engineering
- Civil & Structural Engineering
- Infrastructure Engineering
- Engineering with a related discipline
You should have:
- A strong interest in engineering design and infrastructure
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- A willingness to learn and take initiative
- Attention to detail and a positive attitude
- The ability to manage competing priorities effectively
No previous industry experience is required, although any relevant work experience, internships or technical projects would be advantageous.
