About Us

The Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Division of Landell Mills provides technical support to a wide range of clients, including some of the world’s largest donors and aid agencies. Our current portfolio of MEL contracts includes monitoring of the European Union’s programmes in Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean; evaluation of UNICEF´s Country Programme in Malaysia; and evaluation of WFP’s Country Strategic Plan for Mali. We are also providing monitoring services for the Asian Development Bank’s humanitarian support in Afghanistan.

Our contracts cover a range of development and humanitarian thematic areas – from food security to human rights. They are mostly implemented through desk-based activities and field missions to countries in which we work. We operate in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

The Role

Project management

  • Work with consultants and clients to ensure quality and timely execution of short and long-term monitoring and evaluation contracts.
  • Support preparation and submission of key deliverables, including progress reports and evaluation outputs.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions, financial regulations and reporting requirements of clients.
  • Provide day-to-day contractual, financial, and logistical support to experts.

Business development

  • Lead on, and support in, the preparation of tenders for new monitoring and evaluation contracts, including administrative, technical, and financial content.
  • Identify and liaise with consultants and business partners on the development of proposals.
  • Proactively identify, track, and position for new business opportunities, through networking with donors, consultants, and partners, with country visits and client contact.

In doing the above, you will be expected to contribute positively to the company’s profitable portfolio of work and its reputation for successful project acquisition and implementation. You will also be expected to contribute to internal knowledge sharing and communication and liaise and collaborate with all the other technical and cross-cutting divisions at Landell Mills. You will report to the Evaluations Portfolio Manager of the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Division.

At the time of starting employment, the successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK or Ireland.

Essential skills, qualifications, interests and experience

  • Business orientated and numerate, with an interest in delivering both new business and attaining financial targets on existing contracts
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage relationships with different internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work to a high standard, prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Positive and flexible attitude and team-oriented approach
  • Good attention to detail
  • Perfectly fluent in English
  • Fully computer literate
  • A graduate in economics, social sciences, development studies or other related fields
  • Ability to produce accurate work to tight deadlines under pressure
  • Interest in developing MEL knowledge and skills through internal and external training and/or knowledge sharing events
  • Commitment to sharing lessons and supporting best practice in MEL across the organisation

Language skills in French (and Spanish or Portuguese) would also be advantageous.
