In many ways, placements are similar to internships, they provide a structured work experience programme for students and graduates. This enables those on the placement to get an immersive experience in a particular industry or sector. Work placements primarily differ in that they are most regularly part of a students’ degree programme, and are done with employers who are relevant to the degree which students are studying. Work placements for students can be structured in different ways. Normally, they can either six months or one year, and normally in the penultimate year of your degree. Work placement programmes also take place during the summer, and summer work placements are a great opportunity for students to make a good impression on an employer for any future opportunities that may arise.
