When submitting your application form, you will be asked questions on which area of our business you wish to join. You will be allowed state a preference for the business unit and team (if you wish), which will be considered as part of your application.

EY is split into two areas, Financial Services (FSO) and Non-Financial Services (also known as UKI). The difference between the two are largely the clients we work with. To help you decide, please read the below text before continuing.

  • Non-Financial Services Clients (UKI) – Industrial, Commercial & Technology Clients including Automotive & Transportation, Government & Public Sector, Health & Life Sciences, Mining & Metals, Oil & Gas, Power & Utilities, Real Estate, Hospitality & Construction, Technology, Telecommunications, Media & Entertainment.
  • Financial Services Clients (FSO) – Clients specialising in the Irish and International Banking, Wealth and Asset Management, Insurance, Aircraft Leasing and Structured Finance sectors.

Start your career journey – Aspects of the Programme

Throughout the 8-week Summer Internship programme at EY, you’ll receive a wealth of training in your chosen area to ensure that by the end of the summer, you will have gained skills to last you a lifetime.

However, we also want to provide our interns with an array of opportunities to expand their skillset outside of their day-to-day work and build their network during their time with us. Therefore, we have added lots of opportunities to get involved in throughout the programme.

What to expect

  • Day One: After a comprehensive induction, you will begin your journey as an intern within our Tax Business. From day one, you will be assigned a buddy on your team who will help you get settled in, and ensure you are set up for a successful summer at EY.
  • Your Role: You’ll work as part of team, meet with clients, and make a real contribution to EY projects. We trust the students who join EY for the summer to make a real impact, and we encourage you to do so. You will develop analytical and problem-solving skills, learn how to network, build working relationships and how to lead and manage projects.
  • Work/Life Balance: Whilst there will be a certain focus on building your technical skillset, we also want to furnish our interns with the skills needed to manage their workload and create a healthy work/life balance. Throughout this 8-week programme, you will be invited to join us for sessions on a variety of wellbeing topics, as well as plenty of social outings so you can get to know your fellow colleagues and interns on the programme.
  • Get to know EY: No matter what programme you choose, we want you to get to know us and what we do. Therefore, you will have the opportunity to attend deep-dive sessions into Assurance, Tax, Strategy & Transactions and Consulting teams and more, so by the end of the summer you will have a great idea of the breath of opportunities at EY. Overall, the EY Summer Internship will offer you the chance to figure out if your chosen career path is the absolute right fit for you.
  • Compensation: The EY Summer Internship programme is fully paid - you will work for EY as if you were a full-time employee therefore, we believe you should be compensated as such.
  • Future Opportunities: At the end of your internship if we’re impressed with you and your work, and you are interested in a career at EY, we may even offer you a graduate position!

Corporation Tax (Compliance and Consulting/Advisory)

The Corporation Tax team is focused on helping clients deal/comply with the ever changing national and international tax laws across the tax lifecycle of Planning, Policy, Controversy Management, Reporting and Compliance. The team use cutting-edge technology platforms and work with a diverse and wide range of clients - many of the world’s largest multinational companies across all sectors including Technology, Life Sciences, Retail and Financial Services.

Indirect Tax (VAT)

Imagine kick starting your day by helping clients get VAT refunds in excess of €1m back from Revenue or advising them on the sale of a property on Grafton Street leased to one of your favourite retailers? In any given day you could be advising on a diverse range of issues, for a broad range of clients, working on the indirect tax treatment of life changing medicines to co-ordinating the customs treatment of moving your favourite drinks around the globe. Our work and our clients are so diverse and interesting that no day is the same. Are you ready to play a leading role in helping shape the future?

Private Client Services

Working with high-net-worth individuals and their families advising them on all aspects of their tax affairs including personal tax planning, residency, estate and succession planning and asset protection. We also advise privately owned companies including family business on a number of matters including M&A, transition of shares to next generation, re-organisations, governance structures etc.

Transfer Pricing

In Transfer Pricing, we assist companies with appropriately pricing and documenting their intercompany transactions to comply with various countries ‘rules and legislation which is imperative in managing tax risk. We do this by understanding their business (i.e., functions performed, assets employed, and risk assumed by each associated company in a related party transaction) through functional interview of the stakeholders and provide advisory, compliance support and litigation support in relation to their intercompany transaction pricing across various jurisdictions.

Real Estate Services

The EY Real Estate Tax Team provides specialist due diligence and structuring advisory services on the acquisition, development, financing, holding and disposal of real estate in Ireland. Our tax compliance services cover all tax heads relevant to the real estate sector.

Research and Development (R&D)

The EY quantitative services group help businesses to access funding, grants, and incentives for their innovation, sustainability initiatives, and capital investments to achieve their innovation, sustainability and growth ambitions, thereby unlocking long-term value for our clients. The quantitative services team have a wide variety of skill sets from IT, Engineering and Life Science to Tax and Accounting.
