Education, qualifications & special training:
Degree (NFQ Level 8), MSc or PhD in Manufacturing, Production, Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering, Computer Systems or Computer Science or a related field.
Experience:
- Previous work experience or project experience in product development, manufacturing engineering, or related fields within the electronics industry is preferred. Work experience relevant to a manufacturing environment is desired.
- Project management knowledge would be beneficial
- Problem solving

- Very good understanding of engineering processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information to diverse audiences.
- Some exposure to project management principles and practices, either through coursework or work experience.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to analyse data and make informed decisions.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an agile team environment and build effective working relationships across departments.
- Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Knowledge of Production Capacity & Line Balance & Layout Planning
- Knowledge of German language an advantage
- Microsoft Office Skills (excel, PowerPoint, project)

Overall basic purpose of the job:
Rotational 2yr programme with 2 twelve month rotation periods in the New Product Introduction Engineering Abbeyfeale & Mallow plant The Graduate New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer will assist in managing and overseeing the transition of new products from the development phase to full-scale production. This role provides an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in the electronics industry, working closely with cross-functional agile teams to ensure smooth and efficient product launches.
Main Responsibilities and Duties of the job but not limited to:
- Project Management of New Products being introduced to KOSTAL, from initial concept through to mass production, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Work with R&D, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and sales/marketing teams to coordinate various aspects of the new product introduction process.
- Help develop and implement manufacturing processes for new products, including assembly instructions, test plans, and quality control procedures.
- In close co-operation with all Design groups, review product designs to ensure they are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet all quality and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure on-time and within budget delivery of all jigs / fixtures required for production of a new product.
- Identify potential risks in the NPI process and assist in developing mitigation strategies to ensure successful product launches.
- To provide core link between the NPI team and the design engineering group.
- The identification, evaluation and specification of new equipment within the manufacturing process.
- Project management of new equipment requirements, procurement and production line installation / reconfiguration.
- Design, release and procurement of product packaging solutions.
- Control of product technical change process for pre-series and series production products.
- Support request for Quotation (RFQ) engineering activities - product design, process design & flow, capital costs and product specific cost generation.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for new products, including assembly instructions, test procedures, and quality standards.
- Contribute to improving the NPI process, reducing time-to-market, and enhancing product quality.
