Devaney & Durkin, a well-established accounting and finance practice based in Rathmines, Dublin 6, is offering a unique opportunity to join our dynamic team as a Trainee Accountant.

The Role

You will gain hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting disciplines, with a strong focus on Forensic Accounting from an early stage. Initial responsibilities include:

  • Financial planning and forensic analysis
  • Preparing and maintaining VAT filings
  • Corporation tax and income tax computations
  • Insurance and pensions advisory
  • CGT calculations
  • Exposure to UK tax
  • Assisting in the preparation of high-level forensic query letters
  • Assisting in the preparation of documents and reports for presentation to the Courts

As you progress, you will have the opportunity to specialise in your chosen area—particularly within forensic investigations—while being involved in diverse projects that enhance your technical and analytical skills.

Who We're Looking For

  • Fluent in English (at least C2 if not native speaker) with strong communication skills
  • A strong academic record, with a strong Leaving Certificate and a third-level qualification in accountancy, finance or a related field
  • Applications will be accepted from non-finance graduates if they can demonstrate appropriate skills and work experience to meet the requirements of the role
  • A genuine interest in accounting and forensic work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • A team player who can also work independently and take initiative
  • Willingness to work towards a recognised accountancy qualification
