Dubai - A world-class city that needs no introduction!

From humble beginnings as a small fishing village first documented in the 18th century, Dubai – city and emirate - grew rapidly in the early 21st century with a focus on tourism and luxury. The discovery of oil in 1966 kick-started the development of Dubai; however, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum (ruler from 1958 to 1990) realised one day Dubai would run out of oil and started building an economy that would outlast it. Today, Dubai's majestic skyline is filled with unique architecture and iconic buildings and skyscrapers such as the Burj Khalifa, the Burj Al Arab, and the Cayan Tower, just to name a few.

Dubai is located 90 minutes away from Abu Dhabi and a mere 20 minutes from the emirate of Sharjah. Getting around the city is quite easy as there are complex new bridges, roads, and a fully automated, driverless metro rail system that have opened different ways of moving around.

Because of its large expatriate population, Dubai feels like a Middle Eastern melting pot, and more than 200 nationalities call it ‘home.’ Beaches, sunshine, entertainment – Dubai has it all.

So, why holiday in Dubai when you can work and live there too!

Ruwais

Located 240 kilometers west of Abu Dhabi and situated on the seafront, Ruwais is on its way to becoming a regional hub in the United Arab Emirates, as well as being home to the Ruwais Refinery, which is the largest oil refinery in the United Arab Emirates.

The area of Ruwais was once a small fishing headland from which a handful of people scratched a seasonal living. However, in the 1970s, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) developed the Ruwais industrial and housing complex and plans were laid to transform a remote desert site into a self-contained industrial town, geared to fulfilling the requirements of Abu Dhabi's booming oil and gas industry. Abu Dhabi’s oil town has now been transformed into a modern city with all modern amenities.

Being a complete community within itself, Al Ruwais City has all kinds of amenities from supermarkets to parks, recreational centers, hotels, schools, places of worship, a hospital and a mall too. Getting around the city is very easy and the town features its own bus network and taxis are reliable, abundant and convenient.

While the city itself is small, it is home to a diverse population. Weekends are spent on road trips to Abu Dhabi or Dubai, and many choose to stay local and spend time at one of the beautiful beach resorts. One such beach resort is Sir Bani Yas Island, which can be reached by boarding a ferry and offers a variety of options, ranging from wildlife to luxury resorts, historical sites and luxury villas too. It received the award for being the World’s Leading Sustainable Tourism. Destination at the 2014 World Travel Awards. Here, one will find more than 17,000 animals here and observe the wildlife through thrilling safaris.

Located in the emirate of Abu Dhabi and a mere 90-minutes from Dubai, Al Ain is the fourth largest city in the U.AE. Taxis and busses are safe, abundant, quite reliable, and economical. It is also one of the world's oldest permanently inhabited settlements and a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising of four locations: the Bronze Age Hafit Tombs, the archaeological settlements at Hili, the prehistoric vestiges at Bidaa bint Saud, and the six lush oases of Al Ain, including Al Ain Oasis.

Al Ain’s pride rises 1,400 meters up over the southern suburbs - Jebel Hafeet mountain. Jebel Hafeet offers epic views over largely flat Abu Dhabi and neighbouring Oman. Strung below craggy mountains, the Omani capital of Muscat is one of the Middle East’s oldest and most picturesque cities!

Oman, the oldest independent state in the Arab world, dates back since the early 1st century AD as an important trading port between the west and the east. The country was always of interest to foreign powers due to its strategic position for Indian Ocean trade.

Today, Oman is one of the safest countries in both the Middle East and the world. Omanis are genuinely friendly and it is here that you understand the meaning of “Middle Eastern hospitality.”

In comparison to its neighbors, Oman might not run in the league of the tallest high-rise, or biggest, newest, something, or other.
