Job title Supervisor-Financial Reporting and Internal Audit
Employer HedgeServ

Why did the HedgeServ appeal to you
and why a career in the funds
industry?

I wanted to join a fast paced
environment in a growing company,
HedgeServ was a perfect choice for me
at the time. The Hedge Fund industry
has always appealed to me because of
the complexity and variety of different
financial instruments, fund structures
and fees structures along with market
volatility and the unpredictability of
financial markets.

Can you tell us a bit about the
selection process?

I had to complete a hedge fund
knowledge based test at the start of
the interview process with HedgeServ.
This was followed by a detailed face to face interview with a manager and a
Director from the Fund Accounting
Department. It was quite an interactive
and personal interview, where I felt at
ease and able to showcase my talents.
HedgeServ made me an offer within a
week of the interview which I was
delighted with and I commenced the
Graduate Development Programme
shortly thereafter.

How tough is the programme and
what did it teach you about yourself?

The Graduate Development
Programme that I completed over the
course of 2 years was challenging and
extremely insightful with both
structured training and on the desk
training provided. It has greatly
assisted and guided my learning as I
encountered all the complexities of
hedge fund clients in a structured
environment, receiving a balance of
guidance from my manager but also
the encouragement to problem solve
knowing that my manager would
review and provide feedback.

What does your daily job involve and
what’s exciting about it?

On a daily basis I deal with client
queries, preparing financial statements
for our clients while collaborating with
various departments in the company
such as the Fund Accounting
Department and the Investor Services
Departments. I work in a challenging,
fast paced environment with various
projects and tasks coming up on an adhoc
and scheduled basis.

Can you tell us a bit about how it felt
to win the gradireland Graduate
Employee of the Year Award?

Winning the gradireland Graduate
Employee of the Year Award on its 10th
anniversary was the highlight of my
career to date, which I feel has
rewarded the hard work and
commitment I've put into my job and
exams. It was an unbelievable occasion
I will never forget, such a great setting
and excellent entertainment. I am
extremely grateful to gradireland for
hosting this event and am sure that
next year it will be even bigger and
better. I also wish to thank HedgeServ
for nominating me and providing me
with the tools and experience to win
such an award.

What are your plans for your future
career and how do you hope to see it
developing?

I would like to stay in financial services
industry as it provides me with a
challenging environment and fast
paced client facing roles.
