Rebecca Byrne, Tax Associate, PwC

What are the main tasks you do in your job in a normal week?

A normal day for me would involve carrying out tax compliance work with my team and communicating with clients regarding tax consulting issues.

What skills do you need to be successful in your role?

The main skill that has really been important since I started at PwC has been communication with both the team and the clients. It's a skill that you improve upon everyday when you're at work because you're talking to various stakeholders and managers within the organisation.

What do you love about your job?

I think the people at PwC are the element of the job that makes it a fun and comfortable place to learn and develop.

How did you get into your job?

I did commerce as my undergrad. I really enjoyed tax so I decided to pursue that in my career.

What skill should first year students develop if they're interested in this career?

Communication is so important. Work on that throughout your college years and build relationships with people. Try and understand the different areas you are interested in and ask people who work in those areas to find out if the career path is a good fit for you.
