Meet Éabha Foran, a Technology Consultant at Accenture

Length of your internship and when you began: 7-month long internship with Accenture starting January 2026 until August 2026.

College course: Bachelor’s in science for Psychology and Disruptive Technology in DCU.

What drew you to this company when you were seeking an internship?

Accenture proudly focused on innovative technology for the development of industry, and I was intrigued by the opportunity to use the knowledge I had developed from my college course so far. I also felt that my course gave me an interesting perspective to give as I can integrate the psychology of the consumer and consider it for the development of the product.

Can you describe a typical day in your role?

I typically begin my day at 09:00, by reading through, and replying, to any messages or emails I have received since last being online. The daily sprint that my team holds begins around 09:45 and lasts about 45 minutes. After that, I prepare for any meetings I have scheduled for the remainder of the day before grabbing myself a snack. The remainder of my day depends on the work I have for my project. On days where I have a lot of project work, I spend most of the day on that, putting some time aside to work on any additional projects I currently have. Alternatively, on days my project work is small, I will give myself the opportunity to learn something new through our learning platform. I generally take my break around 12:30 and finish up my day at 17:30.

Did the scope of your work change as the internship progressed?

The scope of my work has definitely changed as my internship has progressed. The first few weeks consisted of training and onboarding me onto a project before I was given more responsibility. I now help my team by fixing defects founds in our product for our consumer, and by automating certain processes in our project to create analytical insights and to quicken said processes.

What key things have you learned during this internship?

I’ve learned how to work with others in a professional environment. Having a team, who you need to communicate with every day, has improved my social ability, communication and to make sure my work is finished in a manner that is up to standard with my team and on time.  Working with others has also improved my self-discipline.

I would say my knowledge of the professional world has improved greatly since beginning my internship. This is my first time working in a professional setting and the exposure is great for when I will rejoin the professional world after my undergrad. This internship has helped me set myself up for my future.

Has this internship made you feel as though you’re on the right career path, or are you going be pursuing a different field afterwards?

My internship with Accenture has been quite different from my undergrad degree, which mainly focuses on psychology. But it has given me many different avenues that I can go down after my degree that I was not aware of before. Luckily for me, I feel as though Accenture is on the right track for my future. I would love to come back for their graduate programme. I have always had an interest in education, so I hope down the line I can find a way to integrate more education into my work.

How has your internship made you feel more prepared for working life?

Accenture has certainly helped me develop my networking skills. The general small talk you can have with co-workers to serious business conversations and what way is best to conduct myself. The knowledge of the professional world has been great to learn as I have continued with my internship. All the lingo, socialising, and proper conduct has given me much to feel prepared for the professional world.

A skill that Accenture has helped with has been how to research in a professional environment instead of an educational one.

Finally, working in Accenture has helped me feel a lot more proficient in using AI as a tool for my work. The training provided by Accenture has helped me use AI to benefit my work without diluting the quality of it, which I believe to be extremely important. I use it to help me automate repetitive tasks and to help with research in certain topics, as well as help with any coding errors I may come into.

What are the things about this company that you would recommend to others looking for an internship, such as culture, benefits, workload, etc?

My main reason for recommending this internship to others is the opportunities to learn that Accenture gives you. Whether it is through structured training, access to learning platforms, support from colleagues, or being trusted to take on new responsibilities, there is always a chance to develop new skills. Accenture encourages you to keep growing, ask questions, and explore areas you may not have considered before, which has made the experience feel valuable beyond just the work itself. For someone looking for an internship where they can build confidence, learn from others, and develop both professionally and personally, I think Accenture offers a strong environment.
