An EIRE Systems Graduate Programme Success Story

Philip joined EIRE Systems in Tokyo through the company’s overseas graduate programme and has built a successful career delivering IT infrastructure projects for multinational organisations across Asia. Originally from Ireland, he arrived in Japan with a strong academic background in computing and quickly gained experience working in demanding international IT environments.

Over more than a decade with EIRE Systems, Philip has progressed from hands-on technical roles supporting financial trading environments to leading large-scale infrastructure and relocation projects for global clients. Known for his structured project management approach and strong technical foundation, he now manages complex infrastructure initiatives involving international stakeholders, vendors, and senior business leaders.

Philip’s career demonstrates the long-term opportunities available through the EIRE Systems graduate programme. Starting as a new graduate in Tokyo, he has grown into a senior infrastructure project leader managing complex enterprise environments across Asia.

Starting out

Philip moved to Tokyo in 2014 after completing his MSc in Computing Science at University College Cork, graduating first in his class. Joining EIRE Systems through the graduate programme gave him immediate exposure to enterprise IT environments supporting global financial institutions.

Early in his career he worked in front-office IT support, maintaining trading floor systems, financial applications, and enterprise desktop environments where reliability and fast response were essential.

Building Infrastructure Expertise

As his experience developed, Philip transitioned into project roles delivering infrastructure improvements and migrations. His work expanded to include:

  • Data centre consolidation across Japan, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia
  • Infrastructure design projects in South Korea
  • Infrastructure design and relocation planning for global financial institutions
  • Office relocation projects supporting 100+ users
  • Infrastructure standardisation across multi-site organisations

These projects involved detailed infrastructure planning, vendor coordination, budgeting, and executive reporting.

Leading Global Infrastructure Projects

Today Philip works as a Senior IT Infrastructure Project Manager delivering projects for multinational organisations operating in Japan. His work often requires coordination between global IT teams, local contractors, service providers, and senior business stakeholders.

Major initiatives he has led include:

  • Data centre consolidation projects migrating critical applications
  • Infrastructure design for shared workspace companies across 30+ locations in Japan
  • Office relocation programmes for global banks and investment firms
  • Remote desktop platform migrations supporting international teams

Advice to when choosing an employer after Graduation

Due to the ever-changing nature of IT, I would recommend graduates focus on opportunities which will help encourage development of technical and interpersonal skills over company brands or position titles. This will help you get a better understanding of your own skills and also how those skills can be used to open future career opportunities.
