Tell us about your current role

My role is part of the Jameson International Graduate Programme (JIGP). Currently I am based in Jameson’s main office in Dublin, in an office based role in the third year of the JIGP. I’m working in the international marketing team, which involves working on products in the wider Jameson portfolio, and bringing those innovations to life.

What did you study in college?

I did a degree in Business, economics and social studies in Trinity, so for me the attraction of the Jameson programme was the fact that it’s part of the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, which I was very interested in.

Why the FMCG sector?

The FMCG sector is amazing. It’s very fast paced, competitive and challenging, meaning you have to be on top of your game all the time. My favourite part of it is the wider-thinking aspect, seeing what trends are developing, what’s happening in the marketplace and how we can take advantage of them.

What skills do you need to be successful

What was really important in the field, when working abroad in Texas on the programme, was initiative and motivation. One of the great values within Jameson is that we have an entrepreneurial spirit, seeing opportunities and capitalising on them. Another skill is creativity, whether it’s events or sponsorship, and connecting with the target consumer in that way.

What other skills give you an advantage?

It’s not vital to have a business qualification for the Jameson graduate programme. Language skills are a huge asset, as are any skills or experiences that show that you have drive, ambition and are not afraid of responsibility. Remember, it’s the right attitude that employers as looking for.
