What do you do on a daily basis?

As a Sales Engineer, I provide support for our current and potential customers which consists of visits on site, where I get to learn and understand each companies’ unique processes and how best I can help increasing efficiency within their workplace.

How has your role changed since starting?

The job provides quick development as I have more responsibilities such as hosting meetings and contributing more to my team. I help and support any new team members to ensure they are comfortable in developing their role.

How did you learn the technical side of the role?

I learnt the most through experience with customers as you are problem solving with the support of your technical team. There can be a vast range of queries and questions which can arise which allows you to adapt solutions for a variety of problems and help the customer get their systems up and running.

How would you describe our working culture?

The work culture at Keyence heavily focuses on collaboration between different divisions. We speak about applications and collectively produce the best solution for what the customer needs. Through doing this, you develop great relationships with your colleagues.

What is your favourite thing about your role?

My favourite thing about my role is the exposure to the variety of products which are designed and manufactured in companies in my area. I enjoy learning their procedures through tours of their factories and understanding what their processes are as well as their contribution to their sector.

This highlights the importance of my job as I am providing solutions to fix problems or increase efficiency within their quality department.

Any advice to potential applicants

You will learn about your system(s) during your training period and have a great level of knowledge for when you go on the road and meet customers for the first time. A huge amount of learning is done through experience and customers are very understanding if you do not know the answer straight away.
