What does your role in Kingspan involve?
I am currently working as a Digital Projects Engineer in the Insulated Panels division of Kingspan. My role covers coordinating the digital strategy across the Western Europe and Africa hub, managing region-scale digital projects, as well as supporting businesses with local projects. I work on building a coherent ecosystem for our organisation by conciliating local needs and international orientations. This role is a great opportunity to bring together leaders and local workers.
What is the most interesting project you have been involved in since you joined?
I got the chance to work on the implementation of a Sales and Operations Planning system for one of the Western European businesses. This has involved designing and formalising processes through workshops, defining the requirements for an efficient forecasting system, and determining the right technology and resources to make it happen. It has been a very exciting journey as it allowed me to dive into a number of departments and better understand how they interact together. Go-live is near, so wish me luck!
What prompted you to apply to Kingspan?
I was really drawn by the company’s values reflected in its Planet Passionate and People Passionate initiatives. Values are essential to me, and not only did Kingspan have strong engagement, but it has also allowed me to actively contribute to those objectives within the company. Doing so in an international environment open to initiatives really was the dream environment for me.
What was your experience of the Kingspan graduate recruitment process?
The Graduate recruitment process was well-organised and straightforward. The different steps followed each other quickly, expectations were clear, and accurate and timely feedback was provided. I especially enjoyed the focus on human skills during the process, the very caring and trustful approach to recruitment, as well as the very future-oriented discussion during the last round interview.
Have you any tips for someone else thinking of applying to Kingspan?
From my experience, Kingspan is very open to a wide range of profiles, so there is no need for you try and conform a specific norm or expectation. If you are able to show how your skills, experience, and personality can contribute to the business and its people, you are on the right track! Do not be afraid to share ideas and initiatives you would like to take on, they are highly appreciated. Just keep in mind that values alignment and collaboration skills are key: if your technical skills match the role, they will be the true differentiator, being the main driver of your real impact in the company once you will be working with us.
Looking back, what qualities and behaviours do you think you displayed during the recruitment process which made you a good fit for Kingspan?
Unlike many international firms, Kingspan does not have a strong top-down approach to management, meaning there is a lot of room for local initiatives, which ultimately reflects in the type of people the company wants to attract. I think I was most successful in the recruitment process by displaying an ability to take initiatives backed by strong collaboration skills and empathy. I believe that the will to improve collectively is really what move my application forward.
